Community and Invasive Species
Baitworms as Vectors for
Invasive Species to the Mid-Atlantic Region:
Community Impacts and Responses
(2011-2012; Maryland Sea Grant)
The project focuses on marine baitworms and their packing algae, from Maine, as a vector for invasive species and the impacts of interventions to reduce the risk of invasive species on communities of harvesters, processors and fishers. Research seeks to identify approaches that will involve fishing and baitworm stakeholders in programs to reduce the risk of invasive species, while helping to increase the sustainability
of their livelihood strategies.
