THE FACULTY

The African American Studies faculty at UMCP is interdisciplinary and consists of a core faculty of anthropologists, sociologists, historians, and economists. The program also calls on faculty from other departments and colleges throughout the University.

Much of the research conducted by the faculty is on the cutting edge of scholarship on the Black community. Members of the faculty consult with a variety of agencies and appear at national and international conferences and programs. They are known moreover for their commitment to working closely with students in the program and for helping them develop the skills and capabilities for tackling the social and economic issues facing the black and other minority communities.
