Dr.
Fatimah Jackson is a professor of anthropology at the University of
Maryland and also holds adjunct positions in the department of nutrition
and the department of biology. Her research emphasizes the biological
effects of of specific human cultural behaviors, particularly dietary
practices, in influencing the pattern of human biological diversity
and the cadence and direction of human microevolution. In the spring
of 2002, she concieved the idea of a journal devoted to discourse
in human biology, and the first issue of Maryland Essays in Human
Biodiversity was designed over the summer. |
