  Alumni and Development

Welcome to the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences Alumni and Development website.

The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) is the largest college on the University of Maryland campus, offering four of the five most popular majors and granting 35 percent of the university’s degrees.  Our more than 40,000 alumni use their behavioral and social sciences training in boardrooms, classrooms, and courtrooms across the United States and around the globe.  From the halls of the U.S. Capitol to the most remote villages of the world, BSOS alumni are bringing their expertise to the most pressing social, economic, political, and cultural questions of our time.

Make a Gift to BSOS

Your gift to BSOS advances both the mission of the College and the visibility and stature of the University of Maryland.

The Campaign for the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences:

Who we are and what we will become as individuals and societies is fundamentally rooted in the choices people make.  To understand human behavior, then, is to hold the key to not only understanding the past, but to changing the future.

To continue to advance the mission of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences well into the 21st Century, we are embarking on a Great Expectations Campaign to improve support for our talented faculty, allow easier financial access to the best and brightest students, and provide state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities.  During the campaign, we seek to enhance the college community by raising funds to:

  • Endow academic chairs to attract and retain the very best faculty and provide operational funds to support the development of junior faculty;

  • Fund scholarships to assure access as well as to provide opportunities for our students to take advantage of learning opportunities outside of the traditional classroom; and

  • Transform our lecture halls, classrooms, labs and community clinics with 21st Century technology.

Each and every gift, regardless of amount, makes a difference in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences.  For more information about how you can support BSOS, please contact the Alumni Relations and Development Office at (301) 405-3475.
