Many of these honor societies have been recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). As stated on the ACHS Web site, the purpose of the ACHS "is to build a visibly cohesive community of national and international honor societies, individually and collaboratively exhibiting excellence in scholarship, service, programs, and governance." The ACHS serves as the nation's only certifying agency for college and university honor societies.
