Enrique Mendoza, Professor, joined the Maryland
faculty in 2001 after spending eight years in Washington at the International
Monetary Fund and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System
and four years at Duke University. He received his Ph.D. from the University
of Western Ontario in 1989 and was a visiting professor at the University
of Rochester during Fall 1996 and at Maryland in 1995 and 1996. His areas
of specialization are macroeconomics and international macroeconomics.
His research focuses on economic fluctuations, stabilization policies,
and structural reforms in open economies. Publications include: "Rational
Contagion and the Globalization of Securities Markets'' (with Guillermo
Calvo), Journal of International Economic, 2000, "The International
Ramifications of Tax Reforms: Supply-side Economics in a Global Economy"
