10/13/06 - ENSP P&P Registration: Spring 07

Registration season for Spring 07 is almost upon us: The first wave officially begins this October 26th! Given the support demands of our interdisciplinary curriculum, those of you in the first year of the concentration and graduating in the upcoming semester (end of Spring 07) are required to come in for an advising appointment with me. Others in different phases of the program can fulfill mandatory advising by submitting a choice of courses to me by e-mail.

Prior to our contact, please carefully consider the ENSP P&P "Course Offerings Fall 2007" posted at http://www.bsos.umd.edu/ensp_pol/spring07offerings.html as well as the tips on preparing for advising at http://www.bsos.umd.edu/ensp_pol/Procedures.html#Preparing More generally, now as in the future, it will probably be worth your time to browse around our updated website which is featuring potentially useful new resources such as additional career and research tools.

To set up your appointment, please sign up for a 30-minute block of time using an online calendar: http://my.calendars.net/PandPadvising Although technical and somewhat impersonal, this online calendar system has been the most effective process for scheduling during "registration crunch time." To proceed with this: [1] get to the web page (here and elsewhere please persevere if you happen to get messages such as "document contains no data"); [2] find the date with your preferred window of time during which we are both available and with my courtesy of at least 24hs prior notice; [3] click on that date (on actual number); [4] on the page that will follow, click on "Create" on the top left corner; [5] on the next page, enter your name in the "Calendar Text" box, change the "Category" field to "Meeting", choose your appointment time boundaries and hit the "Submit" button on the bottom left of the screen; [6] on the page that will follow, click on the yellow "View Calendar" button on the top left corner to return to the initial calendar page in order to confirm that your appointment has been scheduled appropriately. If for some reason you are unable to cover this procedure, send me an e-mail with your ranked availabilities and I'll try for a fit with that.
