The Baltimore Archaeology Project investigates a village called Texas in Baltimore County, Md., inhabited by Irish-American quarry laborers and their families between 1846 and 1930. Visit this exhibit to learn about the project's findings.

The Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences invites you to learn about research in speech, language and hearing as well as ideas for science fair projects, tips for parents on ways to teach children to speak and read well, strategies for raising a bilingual child, and ways to promote and maintain brain health. Economists study the way that people make tradeoffs. Some tradeoffs involve consuming something now, or exercising patience in order to be able to consume even more later. People's preferences over these types of choices have implications for their savings and investments, so measuring them is important. Come play a game to measure patience, have your time preferences measured, and win candy.

In this year's State of the Union Address, President Obama proposed a second earner tax credit based on a policy proposal by Professors Melissa Kearney and Lesley Turner. Come to the Economics table and get a copy of the actual of the Brookings policy brief that made it happen. Supplies extremely limited. Come early.

(ANTH) Belvoir & the Archaeology of Slavery

Come learn how enslaved African Americans lived at Francis Scott Key’s grandmother’s plantation 200 years ago.  Maryland State Highway and University of Maryland Archaeologists share the history of the site and display artifacts found during the excavation of a large stone slave barracks.  Come try your hand at cross mending broken artifacts and test your history trivia skills!

Explore the human brain, zoom around the cerebellum, fly through a maze of neurons, and discover the intricacies of the human brain in a 3-D video. Cognitive neuroscientists who conduct their research at the Maryland Neuroimaging Center will guide your tour and share their research highlights. Audience members will receive a pair of 3-D glasses. 'What does peace mean to you' and Pinwheels for Peace’  Children can make a Peace Pinwheel by drawing pictures that reflects peace on pinwheel cutouts.  Adults can participate  by writing their view of  peace on the‘Thought Wall’.
