Each department designs a specific academic program which its majors are expected to complete. Most programs consist of required department courses, elective department courses, and supporting courses from outside the major. Grade requirements for these courses are more rigorous than for general education and elective courses. All academic departments in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences require a minimum grade of "C" for all courses used to fulfill department requirements. In some departments, a minimum average of "C+" or "B" across a specified subgroup of courses is required. All exceptions to department requirements must have the written approval of the department's director of undergraduate studies. All students should be familiar with their department requirements. Questions regarding major requirements should be directed to department advisors.
