The Smart Center

A centralized business service center to:

  • provide support and expertise to departments and to a growing pool of highly productive faculty
  • free administrative staff in units to work on those projects which must be managed locally
  • ensure a higher level of administrative excellence and efficiency in the College, reducing liability and audit risk
  • reallocate work—NOT positions or resources

Mission

  • The purpose of the Smart Center is to provide administrative excellence and expertise that will serve the faculty and staff of the College assuring optimal, efficient and cost effective business solutions.
  • The Smart Center will function as an advocate for the faculty and staff to reduce the administrative burden and workload, and facilitate research and teaching.
  • The Smart Center will provide resources and services to ensure adherence to federal, state and university regulations.

Operating Principles

  • The Smart Center will maintain a breadth of knowledge in business systems and serve as a liaison to university administrative offices.
  • The Smart Center will maintain and encourage open communication with faculty and staff by providing feedback, timelines and accessibility.
  • The Smart Center will acknowledge all inquiries within one business day.
  • The Smart Center is committed to seeing each request brought to a satisfactory outcome.
  • The Smart Center will provide a welcoming, well-organized facility for all of our customers.
