“Salome’s Daughters” - 1998

Choreography: Nejla Y. Yatkin
Dancers: 7 females
Music: Lelonek and A.R. Rahman

This work ventures into the (hidden) oppression, struggle and liberation of women through a creative and challenging retelling of the dance of the seven veils. This work exists somewhere “between narration and abstraction”, displaying “considerable formal beauty” (New York Times). It is “driven and driving, forceful and using the full force of modern dance” (Denver Post).
