Requests for Graduate Student Travel Funds

Department Travel Funds

The department will offer travel funds to graduate students once a year (July 1 to June 30 each year) for the purpose of presenting a paper at various conferences.

A request for departmental travel funds must be filled out, submitted and approved by Professor Morris prior to the trip.  Once the student has returned from the conference he/she will fill out an expense statement in order to be reimbursed.  Students will be reimbursed up to $300.00 for domestic travel and up to $450.00 for foreign travel.

If a student requests departmental travel funds after returning from a conference he/she may receive no more than ½ of the standard reimbursement ($150.00 for domestic travel, $225.00 for foreign travel).  This will also be considered his/her yearly travel funding.

Goldhaber Travel Funds

The Graduate School offers a one-time (one time only during your tenure here at UMCP) travel reimbursement for a paper presentation at a conference as well.   This must be applied for in conjunction with the student’s yearly departmental travel request.  The form for Goldhaber Travel Funds can be found on the Graduate School website: www.gradschool.umd.edu.  Fill out the form along with the departmental travel request, attach all required documentation and then return to Ann Marie.
