Interfolio Document Service

The Department of Government and Politics provides document handling for job files through the online Interfolio website at www.interfolio.com. Upload documents, request (or post) letters of reference, and have them delivered through this website. The department pays for the registration fee and regular mail charges (no registration fees for letter writers). Students will have full control and responsibility for making sure the file is complete and sent to job openings on time. The Placement Director has access to all department accounts to provide oversight.

Getting Started:

Register online at www.interfolio.com and select Special Offer Code—you will need to contact me for the code itself. This will give you access to the free services offered by the department.
Upload your own documents—c.v., writing samples, course evaluations, cover letters, etc. If you do not have a digital version of a document you will need to scan it, or you can send it to Interfolio and they will scan it for you. Your cover letter should be on letterhead paper, which means you can either scan the letter or use a digital department letterhead Word template.
Request a Letter of Recommendation—the Interfolio system will send a letter to your references requesting that they set up an account and upload a letter for you; they will also have the option of sending a letter to Interfolio to be scanned in and uploaded by them.
Request a Delivery—check off which documents you want delivered, provide information on where to send them, and Interfolio will take care of the rest.

NOTE: The Interfolio website is designed so that when you make a selection, new options will appear. This can be confusing if you are looking for something and don’t see it. For example, when you are registering for the first time you will not see a box to enter the special code for our department. When you click on Special Offer Code a new box will appear.
