Introduction

The topic for this paper is cookies and privacy. In this paper will explain what an Internet cookie is, what an Internet cookie is not, and their connections with E-commerce. This paper will also talk about the legislative aspect of cookies and discuss their pros and cons. Finally the paper will discuss the groups views and attempt to decide if cookies are beneficial to people or not.

Computer savvy people know cookies are not just for eating. For those in the information technology industry, cookies are packets of information given to a web browser via a web server (1). These pieces of information are stored on a computer's hard drive. Cookies are bits of information stored about a user that a web site can use upon the users next visit (2).
