My research is primarily focused on the United States Congress and, in particular, on the role of committees and partisanship in Congress. While my main interest is in political institutions, I have conducted research in other areas of American politics, most notably on federalism and state gubernatorial elections. Below is more information on research I have conducted or I am currently working on.

Partisanship in Congress

  • I am currently working on further developing my dissertation topic in this area. Broadly speaking, I am interested in examining the role of partisanship in Congress, and more specifically what institutional factors mute partisanship throughout the legislative process.

Gubernatorial Elections

House Rules Committee
  • "I'm your Puppet: The Changing Role of the House Rules Committee" (Working paper; w/ James M. Curry)
