3. Conference Opportunity

The Student Movement for Real Change (SMRC), Americans for Informed Democracy (AID) and Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), are announcing their upcoming conference.  The conference, entitled Creating Global Change: How youth are answering the question, "What can I do?", will discuss various global development issues and ways in which young people have the power to create change.   They are looking for students, interns and others who would benefit from attending this conference.

The conference takes place Tuesday, August 5th from 9:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC.  The conference will consist of a panelist of notable young leaders, hands-on workshops and a keynote speaker.  This is a wonderful opportunity for young leaders and activists to come together and learn more about how to effectively create meaningful change.

If you are interested in this opportunity, are at least at sophomore standing (30 or more credits),  and a GVPT major please submit an up to date resume and cover letter along with an unofficial transcript to the GVPT Advising office.  You can either submit it in person to 3104 Tydings Hall or via fax at 301-314-9690.  Please be aware that the student will be responsible for transportation and incidentals.  The conference is free of charge and will include breakfast and lunch.

Additional information, including a full schedule, list of speakers and co-sponsoring organizations, can be found at
