The GVPT Department Seeks Delegates for 49th Air Force Academy Assembly

The United States Air Force Academy is hosting an undergraduate student conference, the 49th Air Force Academy Assembly.  This year's topic is Continent at a Crossroads: Prosperity, Justice, and Security in South America and the conference will take place February 6-9, 2007.

The Assembly is co-sponsored by the American Assembly of Columbia University and draws prominent scholars, business leaders, and government and military officials to serve as speakers and roundtable leaders.  Undergraduate students form colleges, universities, and military academies in the United States and around the world attend as delegates and produce a final report reflecting their consensus on the principal issues associated with the topic.  The 49th Academy Assembly will thoroughly explore and debate key political issues in South America and will provide a valuable educational experience for all who attend.

One student will be chosen to represent the University of Maryland.  The GVPT Department will sponsor that student's conference registration fee.  However, the delegate will be responsible for travel and lodging.

If interested, please submit a writing sample, a copy of your unofficial transcript and a resume by Thursday, November 30th.  Students must have sophomore standing and at least a 3.0 GPA. Applications should be submitted to GVPT Undergraduate Advising Office.
