Oppenheimer Scholarship

The Oppenheimer Scholarships are three academic awards worth $1500 each that the Department of Government & Politics will award to three sophomore GVPT majors each year. Students are selected based on their financial need and demonstrated ability in GVPT coursework.

Requirements:

Two letters of recommendation (preferably from GVPT faculty members).
A short essay (1-2 pages) specifying career and academic goals. Student’s commitment to government and politics through current activities and future career goals should be emphasized.
An official transcript
Statement of financial need (a brief summary and a print out of your financial aid package from the Office of Student Financial Aid is acceptable.)
A resume highlighting campus community activities and/or internship/research experiences since attending UMCP.

We encourage all students with strong academic records to apply! All application materials for the award must be submitted in a single packet by March 9, 2009.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted!
