The Vaughn Scholarship

The Vaughn Scholarships are two academic scholarships worth $3000 each that the Department of Government & Politics will be awarding to two rising Juniors or Seniors for the 09-10 academic year.

Requirements:

• Registration as a GVPT Major
• You must be a Junior or Senior by credits during the 2008-2009 school year, and plan to be enrolled in both Fall 2009 & Spring 2010 semesters
• Scholarly merit
• Financial need

To apply, please submit the following to GVPT Advising (3104 Tydings Hall):

• A cover letter identifying your application and stating your educational and career goals, and how you plan to accomplish those goals.  
• At least 2 Letters of Recommendation (preferably from GVPT faculty members).
• A resume highlighting campus community activities and/or internship/research experiences since attending UMCP.
• An official transcript
• Statement of financial need (a brief summary and a print out of your financial aid package from the Office of Student Financial Aid is acceptable.)

We encourage all students with strong academic records to apply! All application materials for the award must be submitted in a single packet by March 9, 2009.
