Speech and Language Services

The University of Maryland Speech-Language Clinic provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for individuals of any age. Types of communication problems treated within this clinical facility include the following:

    Language:
    • adult aphasia (language impairment due to stroke, head injury, or other neurological impairments)
    • developmental language delay and childhood language disorders
    Articulation:
    • incorrect production of sounds
    • accent modification
    Fluency:
    • stuttering
    Voice:
    • ineffective speaking voice loss of voice hoarseness/vocal nodules
    • alaryngeal speech (after surgical removal of the larynx)
    School/Community Screenings:
    • speech
    • language

Hearing Services

The University of Maryland Hearing Clinic provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for individuals of any age. Services include the following:

  • diagnosis of hearing impairment, including
    • electrophysiologic measures of hearing such as the auditory brainstem response test
    • otoacoustic emissions testing
  • hearing aid dispensing, fitting and follow-up car e
  • aural rehabilitation (training of listening strategies/speech production after hearing loss)
