Guidelines for Degree Completion

Satisfactory Progress Benchmarks:
Benchmark 1: Hearing and Speech Sciences (HESP) majors must complete the following six courses within two semesters of entering the major:
- Must complete with a grade of ‘C’ or higher: HESP120/LING 200, HESP 202, and PSYC 100.
- Satisfactory completion of four CORE Distributive Studies courses, which can include HESP 120 or LING 200 (not both), and PSYC 100.
- Satisfactory completion of the Fundamental Studies Math and English requirement.
Benchmark 2: Within one semester of completing Benchmark 1:
- Must complete two 300-level HESP courses with a grade of ‘C’ or higher
- Must complete one CORE Life Sciences (LS or LL) and one CORE Physical Sciences (PS or PL) with grades of ‘C’ or higher
Benchmark 3: Within two semesters of completing Benchmark 1:
- Must complete two additional 300- or 400-level HESP courses with a grade of ‘C’ or higher
Benchmark 4: Within three semesters of completing Benchmark 1:
- Must complete two additional 400-level HESP courses with a grade of ‘C’ or higher
