Directions to the Aphasia Research Center:

Driving

From Baltimore and Points North, Via I-95 South:

  • Take I-95 South towards US-1, College Park
  • Merge onto I-495 East/Capitol Beltway
  • Take Baltimore Ave./US-1 South-Exit 25 B-toward College Park
  • Turn slight right onto Baltimore Avenue
  • Continue down US-1 until UMD on right

From Baltimore and Points North, Via 295 South (the Baltimore/Washington Parkway):

  • Take 295 South
  • Exit at I-95 / I-495 North
  • Stay in right lane
  • Take Exit 23 "-201 Kenilworth Avenue Bladensburg Greenbelt"
  • Turn left at light "To Greenbelt Road and Bladensburg"
  • At 3rd light, turn right onto Paint Branch Parkway
  • Proceed approximately two miles to U.S. Route 1
  • Turn left onto US Route 1

From Virginia and Points South, Via MD Side of Capital Beltway (I-495):

  • Take I-95 North to the Capital Beltway (I-495)
  • Follow I-95/I-495 North toward Baltimore
  • Take Exit 23 " 201 Kenilworth Avenue Bladensburg Greenbelt"
  • Turn left at light "To Greenbelt Road and Bladensburg"
  • At 3rd light, turn right onto Paint Branch Parkway
  • Proceed approximately two miles to U.S. Route 1
  • Turn left onto US Route 1

OR

  • Take I-95 North to the Capital Beltway (I-495)
  • Follow I-95/I-495 North toward Baltimore
  • Take Exit 25, "U.S. 1 South, College Park"
  • Proceed approximately two miles on U.S. Route 1 South

From Virginia and Points West, Via VA Side of Capital Beltway (I-495):

  • Take I-66 East or I-270 South to Capital Beltway (I-495)
  • Go East on I-495 toward " Baltimore"
  • Take Exit 25, "U.S. 1 South, College Park"
  • Proceed approximately two miles on U.S. Route 1 South

From Bowie , Annapolis , and Points East, Via U.S. 50 West:

  • Take U.S. 50 West to the Capital Beltway (I-495)
  • Go North on I-95/I-495 toward Baltimore
  • Take Exit 23 " 201 Kenilworth Avenue Bladensburg Greenbelt"
  • Turn left at light "To Greenbelt Road and Bladensburg"
  • At 3rd light, turn right onto Paint Branch Parkway
  • Proceed approximately two miles to U.S. Route 1
  • Turn left onto US Route 1

OR

  • Take U.S. 50 West to the Capital Beltway (I-495)
  • Go North on I-95/I-495 toward Baltimore
  • Take Exit 25, "U.S. 1 South, College Park"
  • Proceed approximately two miles on U.S. 1 South

From Washington, D.C. (Northwest/Southwest) Via 16th Street North:

  • Take 16th St. North
  • 16th St. becomes Georgia Ave. North at Maryland/D.C. line
  • Go East on the Capital Beltway (I-495) toward " Baltimore"
  • Take Exit 28B " 650 South New Hampshire Avenue Tacoma Park"
  • Go South on New Hampshire Avenue
  • Proceed approximately 1/2 mile
  • At the second traffic light, turn left onto Adelphi Road

From Washington, D.C. (Northeast/Southeast), Via U.S. 1 North:

  • Take Rhode Island Ave. (U.S. 1 North)
  • Rhode Island Ave. (U.S. 1 North) becomes Baltimore Ave. North at the Maryland/D.C. line
  • Proceed through the city of College Park

Public Transportation

Metrorail from Washington, D.C.

  • Take the Red Line train (toward Glenmont); transfer at the Fort Totten station to the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
  • Or take the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt ); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
  • The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the station.

MARC from Baltimore (Inner Harbor)

  • Take the Camden Line train (toward Washington, D.C.); get off at the College Park station.
  • The University's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the Metrorail station.

MARC from Baltimore (Penn Station/West Baltimore/BWI Airport)

  • Take the Penn Line train (toward Washington, D.C.); get off at Union Station.
  • Transfer to the Metrorail system.
  • Take the Red Line train (toward Glenmont); transfer at the Fort Totten station to the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
  • The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the Metrorail station.

Parking

The Aphasia Research Laboratory is within the Hearing and Speech Sciences Department in Lefrak Hall (Building # 038). There is a designated gated parking lot ( Lot A) next to Lefrak Hall with reserved spaces marked " Speech & Hearing Clients Only." If this lot is full, alternate parking is available in lot U5 with reserved spaces also marked" Speech & Hearing Clients Only." A parking permit will be mailed to you prior to your scheduled appointment date. You will also need a key pad gate code for Lot A, which will be provided to you 1-2 days prior to your scheduled appointment (since it frequently changes). If you reach the parking lot and do not have the key pad gate code, please call (301) 405-4218 or the Aphasia Lab (301)-405-2477.

IMPORTANT!! Please place your permit on your rear view mirror so that it is facing out of the windshield.

Directions to Parking lot "A,"(gated) and LeFrak Hall.

If you are on Route 1:

Pass all entrances to the University of Maryland . Turn right at the light at Knox Road . At the end of Knox Road make another right. Go one block to stop sign, make a right. Go past the parking garage and follow the road veering left past lots U6 and U5. Go uphill and make a sharp right ward U-turn into the gated parking lot A. The spaces on your left are marked "Speech & Hearing Clients Only." Please park in these designated "S&H" spaces. If you have handicap tags, please use the designated handicap parking spaces if available. When you park in Lot A, you will be facing Lefrak Hall. Enter Lefrak on the left on the basement level (do not go up the stairs next to parking lot A). Go through the double doors and make the first right. The Aphasia Research Laboratory (Room 0133) is at the very end of the hallway to your right.

If you are on Adelphi:

Turn on Campus Drive , go straight past the traffic light at Presidential Drive. You will then come to a traffic circle. Drive halfway around the circle continuing on Campus Drive. Proceed to the stop sign at the top of the hill (the road forks into two here) and enter the gated parking lot A on your left by entering you key pad access code. The spaces to your left are marked "Speech & Hearing Clients Only." Please park in the designated "S&H" spaces. If you have handicap tags, please use the designated handicap parking spaces if available When you park in Lot A, you will be facing Lefrak Hall. Enter Lefrak on the left on the basement level (do not go up the stairs next to parking lot A). Go through the double doors and make the first right. The Aphasia Research Laboratory (Room 0133) is at the very end of the hallway to your right.

Directions to Parking lot "U5," and LeFrak Hall.

If you are on Route 1:

"A" lot is at the top of the stairs and Lefrak Hall is the building in front of you to the right. Walk around the building to the right. Enter Lefrak on the left on the basement level. Go through the double doors and make the first right. The Aphasia Research Laboratory (Room 0133) is at the very end of the hallway to your right.

If you are on Adelphi:
