Language Perception & Development Laboratories

The language laboratories are nearly always interested in new participants!

Interested in your memory? We are beginning a study investigating word-finding difficulties and menopause. If you are currently experiencing menopausal symptoms (and are not on hormone replacement therapy), or have been on hormone replacement therapy for between 2 and 5 years, we would love to have you participate! The session takes approximately one hour, and we would simply present you with a series of pictures and definitions for naming.

Currently, we are looking for adult participants for a variety of speech perception and word recognition studies. These studies take approximately one hour, and involve listening to sounds and telling us what you heard. We can offer some compensation for your times for most of these studies.

We are also looking for participants for our developmental lab. We, and the other children's research labs, run studies with both infants and children, ranging in age from 4 months to 12 years. All of our studies are set up to be fun for the children involved, and we can watch accompanying siblings in our play rooms. Sessions are generally quick (30-45 minutes), and we cover any parking costs. We send detailed letters about all of our studies in advance, and send out thank-you letters explaining the results of the studies once they are completed.

For more information about any of these opportunities, please email us. Or, for children's experiments, you can fill out this on-line form.
