About MAHE

The Maryland Association for Higher Education (MAHE), founded in 1946, is a voluntary organization for professionals in post-secondary education in Maryland committed to the advancement of higher education in Maryland.

The purpose of MAHE is to serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas among all higher education institutions and for those persons interested in improving higher education; to promote the general welfare and seek the continuous improvement of higher education in the state of Maryland; to secure a greater understanding with the various state and national educational agencies; to promote interactions among all segments of Maryland colleges and universities; to foster the study and resolution of problems impacting higher education in Maryland and the nation; and to recognize outstanding educators, programs, and research.

MAHE members include administrators and faculty in public and private sectors, from two- and four-year colleges and universities, and representatives of Maryland State agencies and governing boards.

How to Get Involved

Fall Conference Committee

Features presenters who have been recipients of the Distinguished Programs Award. Alternating years the focus is on Outstanding Educators.

The Distinguished Program Awards Committee

Selects programs from higher education institutions which should be recognized for the contributions the program makes to the betterment of higher education. Alternating years the focus is on Outstanding Educators.

The Outstanding Educator Award Committee

Selects individuals to be recognized for their contributions to the institution or to higher education. Alternating years the focus is on Distinguished Programs.

The Newsletter Committee

Shares information with the members about MAHE's activities and higher education issues.

Marketing & Public Relations Committee

Oversees and plans the marketing and public relations for MAHE events, brochures, and media development for the Fall Conference and Spring Event.

Legislative Affairs Committee

Identifies legislative issues which are impacting higher education in Maryland.
