Dr. Laura MacPherson Receives 'Outstanding Early Career Investigator Award' from NIDA

Dr. Laura MacPherson (PSYC) has been selected by the Behavioral and Integrative Treatment Branch (BITB) in the Division of Clinical Neuroscience and Behavioral Research at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to receive the
Outstanding Early Career Investigator Award for 2012. The award, a very presitigious honor in the field, is given to an exceptional early career researcher chosen by each branch in the Division on an annual basis.
Dr. MacPherson has been invited to NIDA to present her research on adolescents; linking mechanisms of action to treatment development.
Dr. MacPherson received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the San Diego State University/University of California , San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology in 2005 following completion of her clinical internship at the Brown Medical School Clinical Psychology Training Consortium. She joined the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland , College Park in 2007 as a Research Assistant Professor and serves as Associate Director of the Center for Addictions, Personality, and Emotion Research (CAPER).
