ECON's Ginger Zhe Jin Wins Research Grant from The Sloan Foundation
1 February, 2012
The Sloan Foundation has recently awarded Department of Economics
Professor Ginger Zhe Jin a two-year research grant on digital standardization and disclosure of government collected data. In collaboration with Professors Phillip Leslie (UCLA) and Ben Bederson (Computer Science, University of Maryland), the team will create a nationally standardized database of official government restaurant hygiene inspection outcomes. The database will be provided to the public in a user-friendly format, aiming to enhance digital disclosure, facilitate research analysis and improve regulatory supervision.
Established in 1934 by Alfred Pritchard Sloan Jr., then-President and Chief Executive Officer of the General Motors Corporation, the Sloan Foundation makes grants in support of original research and education in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and economic performance.
Congratulations Professor Jin!
