Two CCJS Faculty Members Receive High Honors at UMD
31 January, 2012
The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is pleased to announce that two faculty members in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJS) were recently awarded two of the highest honors bestowed on faculty at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Terence Thornberry has been given the title of
Distinguished University Professor (DUP) by President Loh. This is highest academic distinction given to faculty at the University of Maryland. Reserved for established scholars, held in the highest esteem by professional colleagues nationally and internationally, a DUP’s contributions must have had a significant influence on their discipline.
Dr. Gary LaFree was selected as a 2012-2013
Distinguished Scholar-Teacher. The Distinguished Scholar-Teacher Program seeks to recognize faculty members who have led the way in scholarship and teaching, who have brought a passion for learning to their colleagues and students and who serve as model of what a professor should be.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Thornberry and Dr. LaFree on their tremendous accomplishments and the honors that they have received!
