Christopher J. Fettweis is a fifth year doctoral student in the University of Maryland's Department of Government and Politics. His primary interests include US foreign and national security policies. His dissertation, currently titled The Geopolitics of Energy and the Obsolescence of Major War, focuses on the relationship between oil and conflict. Mr. Fettweis has a BA in History from the University of Notre Dame.

Mr. Fettweis is the author of "Sir Halford Mackinder, Geopolitics, and Policymaking in the 21st Century," Parameters, Summer 2000; "Introducing de Facto Disarmament: The Disintegration of the Red Army," Program on General Security and Disarmament Working Paper # 3; and, "Dividing the Empire: Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Collapse of the Red Army," Program on Global Security and Disarmament Issue Brief # 1, among other publications at the program.
