Research and Teaching Interests:
Throughout my training, I've been inspired by the idea that science can directly inform and better social policy. My interests focus on serving ethnic minorities and disadvantaged groups. In terms of research, I am interested in how social conditions affect these populations in clinical areas, particularly substance use and eating disorders. To this end, I am currently working on a masters thesis which looks at social marginalization, discrimination, and substance use in Indian-Americans. As far as clinical practice is concerned, my interests lie in outreach efforts to serve such populations, particularly in the Asian Indian community.
