Alan
Neustadtl is Associate Professor of Sociology
at the University of Maryland, College Park. He
earned his BA at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine,
and MA and Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts,
Amherst. His research is focused on the distribution
of political power across interest groups, campaign
finance, and the networks of corporate political
action. With funding from sources the like the
National Science Foundation, he has published
two books -Money Talks and Dollars and Votes-
and numerous articles in top refereed journals
like the American Sociological Review, American
Journal of Sociology, Social Forces, and others.
He has also been interviewed on dozens of television
and radio shows as well as published many newspaper
editorials about campaign finance.
His
current research interests include examining the
nature of the growth of internet usage by Americans,
with special consideration of internet usage for
political and cultural purposes, and the nature
and existence of a "digital divide."
