Congratulations to Alex Bierman (2007) who has won the
Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP) Family
Division Graduate Student Paper Competition! The paper
is based on his dissertation. The award entails a
cash prize and the opportunity to present the paper at
the 2007 SSSP meetings in New York.

Professor of Sociology, University of Maryland,
College Park) was at the Russell Sage Foundation
in Fall 2006 to write a book examining
inequality from a global perspective, focused on
rising economic disparities among countries
around the world.
