Computational Social Science and the Environment We have two joint openings designed to expand Maryland’s strengths in the computational aspects of the social dimensions of environmental change. These appointments are part of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences effort to make three appointments in this area in anthropology/sociology, economics/geography and geography/sociology. Applicants should have advanced computational skills integrating social science data into computational models. Each appointed person would participate in interdisciplinary, environmental projects within Sociology and across the College. One objective is to develop a college-wide course on computational social science that would fit into an interdepartmental sequence. Rank is associate or full professor. Tenure will be in the department closest to the applicant’s background. The University of Maryland is located near Washington, D.C., (“inside the beltway”) and close to Washington’s many environmental research resources. Bachelor's degree is preferred as well as three years of professional experience, preferably in higher education, preferably at Maryland. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills a must.
