Assistant Research For the past five years, Jonathon has been an Assistant Research Scientist in the Center for Innovation at the University of Maryland. His research at the Center is primarily focused on the interrelationship between organizational environments and the networks of science and innovation. He is currently the Co-PI on an NSF funded project looking at the determinants of innovation in basic and applied research in federally-funded national laboratories. In addition to his research, Jonathon has been a regular lecturer in the sociology department on organizational development and sociological theory. Jonathon recently completed his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania. His dissertation focused on the evolution of social networks among entrepreneurs, angel investors and venture capitalists in the Philadelphia region. Prior to his work at Penn and Maryland, Jonathon was on the program staff of The Pew Charitable Trusts, The Targeted Neighborhood Initiative, and the Fund for Urban Neighborhood Development.
