| Types of actions | The
International programme is developed with IUCN members and its networks of
Commissions. The programme's main areas of work are:
1. restore and effectively manage ecosystems 2. support institutions, agreements, processes and policies
related to biological
diversity 3. Influence
incentives, including finance, for conservationof
biodivsersity and sustainable use of natural resources
4.Work for equitable sharing of the costs and benefits
5. Assessment of biodiversity and of related social and economic
factors 6. Develop
information management and communication systems 7. Effective and efficient and accountable management and
leadership of the Union. The approach IUCN uses is 1. Knowledge: generating, integrating, managing and disseminating
knowledge on conservation issues and solutions
2. Empowerment: build capacity, responsibility and willingness of
people and institutions to plan, manage and conserve nature and natural
resources. 3. Governance:
influence systematic improvement in laws, policies, economic instruments,
and institutions for the conservation and sustainable and equitable use of
nature and natural resources. |
