Jencks: Housing

Jencks's conclusion about the housing decline and prices: "My best guess, then, is that a modest decline in the supply of cheap rooms interacted with a significant increase in potential demand to drive up room rents much faster than the general price level. The increase in demand was, in turn driven by ... increases in long-term male joblessness and lagging government benefits.
