Jencks: The Homeless

Jencks's macro evidence about men's marriage:

"Table 5 shows that marriage rates declined precipitously between 1969 and 1989."

"Marriage rates did not change much among working-age men with extremely low incomes: 35 percent were married in 1969, 37 percent in 1979, and 33 percent in 1989. Marriage rates declined sharply only among more affluent men. Much of the decline occurred among men who also worked full time throughout the year."
