National organizations working on homelessness:

• The National Coalition for the Homeless is a national advocacy network of homeless persons, activists, service providers, and others committed to ending homelessness through public education, policy advocacy, grassroots organizing, and technical assistance.

 
• National Alliance to End Homelessness in Washington, D.C. is an advocacy group to advance homelessness policy.

 
• The National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty in Washington, D.C. pursues litigation, policy advocacy, and public education.

 
• The National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness (NSCAHH) works with a coalition of students and community members across the country to end hunger and homelessness through education, service and action. Started a decade ago by the PIRGs and USA for Africa, NSCAHH is now the largest student network fighting hunger and homelessness with more than 600 participating campuses in 45 states. They are sponsoring a East Coast student meeting February 25-26 in Boston.

 
• U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HUD's Homeless Assistance Web Page is available to help you learn more about HUD's homeless programs, and to keep you informed about available funding.

 
• Recent HUD report on Homelessness The Urban Institute completed the first extensive analysis of homelessness in a decade. There is also a summary report and a full technical report that you can download in PDF or order a copy (free!).
