2008 SSCP Student Poster Award
The winner of the 2008 SSCP Student Poster Award is Richard W. Seim of Western Michigan University for "The Efficacy of Brief Exposure Durations in the Treatment of Animal Phobias". Congratulations to Mr. Seim and his mentor and co-author, Dr. C. Richard Spates.

2009 Dissertation Grants Applications
Information for the 2009 SSCP dissertation grants will be posted later this summer. Typically, applications are due in November with notification of awards made in January. In the past, awards have been in the amount of $500. Eligibility requirements: (1) Student member of SSCP. Application for membership may be made at time of award submission. Annual student membership fee in SSCP is $10. The membership application form can be downloaded or submitted on-line at: www.sscpweb.org (2) Current enrollment in an APA-approved doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. (3) Dissertation proposal approved by applicant’s department (should be verified by advisor letter).

2008 Meritorious Research Service Commendation
Dr. Jack Maser, formerly of NIMH, has received one of three 2008 Meritorious Research Service Commendations from APA's Board of Scientific Affairs for his long and dedicated service furthering psychological research. Dr. Maser was nominated by the SSCP Board for this award and will be honored at the December 2008 APA Board of Directors' meeting.

2008 Distinguished Scientist Award
Dr. Constance Hammen of UCLA will be the recipient of the 2008 SSCP
Distinguished Scientist Award for her exemplary work on the origins and
course of mood disorders.
Dr. Hammen will receive the award and give an invited address at the 2008
annual meeting of the American Psychological Association in Boston in August.
