Anthropology professor Bill Stuart coaches USA Biology Olympiad Team to four gold medals in international competition

As a consultant to the Center for Excellence in Education, professor
William Stuart served as a coach of the USA Biology Olympiad Team, which
made history when every member of the 4-person team garnered a gold
medal in the International Biology Olympiad. According to the Center for
Excellence in Education, sponsor of the USA Biology Olympiad, no nation,
including the U.S., has previously attained such extraordinary success.
This feat was even more impressive because this was only the second year
the U.S. participated in the International Biology Olympiad.

"It is really a testament to the excellent coaching of the team by Dr.
Stuart and his colleague, Dr. Alan Christensen from George Mason
University," said Suraiya Farukhi, vice president of public affairs at
the Center for Excellence in Education. "Dr. Stuart was largely
responsible for evaluating and training the national finalists as well
as coaching the USA team in rigorous and intense preparatory sessions
for the International Biology Olympiad. His extraordinary teaching
skills are indeed an asset to the Center for Excellence in Education."

The USA Biology Olympiad is the premiere national competition in
biology for U.S. high school students and is a three-tier competition.
>From an original pool of 5000 students, 20 students were selected for
the National Finals ( 3rd round) and were invited to attend the 10-day
training session at George Mason University. From these, the top 4 were
selected to go on to Australia and participate in the International
Biology Olympiad. Dr. Stuart accompanied the team to Australia in July
for the international competition. Dr. Stuart will coach the 2005 USA
Biology Olympiad Team.
